Introducing Premium and Retiring Password-Protected Notes
Introducing Memotto Premium
The core experience you know — no signup required, anyone with the URL can edit — stays free forever. On top of that, we're adding a Premium plan with Google login for ¥390/month (tax incl.). Premium unlocks the following features:
- Cross-device sync (My Page): sign in on any device and pull up your full list of notes
- Invite-only notes: only people signed in with the Gmail addresses you specify can view or edit
- List view and full-text search on My Page: search across every note you own by title and body
- 30-day recovery for deleted notes: deleted notes go to a trash bin and can be restored later
- Ad-free: every ad on the page disappears so you can focus on your notes
You can cancel any time, and the free features (creating notes, sharing them, and real-time co-editing) keep working after cancellation.
Retiring password protection on notes
We looked at the numbers and found that the existing "protect a note with a password" feature was only used on about 1% of all notes. Meanwhile, Premium's invite-only notes achieve the same goal — keeping third parties out even if the URL leaks — in a safer way.
Why invite-only notes beat passwords
- No need to share the password in the same channel as the link (invited Google accounts are admitted automatically)
- Stronger against impersonation (a verified Google email is required)
- The owner can review, add, and remove who has access at any time
- No lockouts from a forgotten password
What's next
The password-protection UI and server-side API have been removed in this release, and the password-related sections of the FAQ are updated. If anything is unclear, please reach out via the contact form in the footer.
